Mrs. Glazar's Weekly UPDATES

Hi Everyone!!

We are all so happy that you are apart of Team 63.  We had a great first week of school and we are looking forward to a great year.  During the first week we took the time to review all of the Travis PRIDE campus procedures.  When the students come to school they are expected to show PRIDE everywhere they are in the building.

At Travis Intermediate we define PRIDE with the following characteristics:

P- Positive attitude
R- Respectful
I- Integerity
D- Dependable
E- Eager to Learn

We appreciate your help in reminding our students of these expectations.

This Week in Math

We have made a lot of progress this week in math.  We have worked on converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, representations for multiplication and division, and multipying and dividing decimals.  One thing to remember about the 6th grade curriculum is that it moves at a swift pace.  I have high expectations for my students which is why I make time to conference with every single student about each topic.  We meet several times a week to review the topics we are studying.  All of the students have time to ask questions in a small group setting.  This element of the class is very important to learning math and the students are doing really well.  They have all been coming to small group prepared with questions and they are all working very hard.

So far we have had 2 homework assignments.
Homework is given on Mondays and Wednesdays:
Monday assignments are due Wednesday
Wednesday assignments are due Friday
The interactive student notebook is a vital element for our class.  It includes information about all of the topics we are studying.  Students need to bring their notebooks to class everyday!!  If they lose their notebook they are responsible for recreating the entire notebook from the beginning, if this happens, a parent conference will be requested.
Canvas is a program we use in class to access and submit assignments. Students are able to access Canvas from home.  They all have their LOGIN information glued to the inside of their student notebooks.

The students were also provided with my email address.  Feel free to email me with questions or concerns regarding the class or homework assignments.

Thank you in advance for your support this school year.
